Still alive ....

As you will see from the following posts, a long time has elapsed since I was able to contribute to the site. In the meantime, I moved things over to our own domain under a paid server. It isn't that this did not work out, rather that there were several severe personal circumstances that precluded me from be a good web host. :(

Many things have now been resolved and I am hoping to start reviewing the site material for broken links etc., hopefully over the next month. However, my energy is tenuous at best, so please be patient.

Now, as never before, your personal contribution of material for the library is critical. I think you will be able to use features in the site to do this. I say "think" because so many things have changed in the interim. I have gone from a normal active life to one being led in a nursing home. :( My overall priority is still, of course, my music. Beyond that I want to make this site as active and useful as it ever has been.

New Site -- Please Upgrade

If you have been following the site metamorphosis, we are now located in our new home with our own domain and own server. For all the wonderful benefits that Blogger has to offer (I would recommend it to any first-time webmaster), we have outgrown it. We needed more services than Blogger can offer in order to grow to the next level. Yes, I am ambitious. ;)

The new site is available at http://hemingways-studio.org/

This particular blog will remain online until we make a decision as to whether we need a "blog" or can just maintain our online presence effectively through just the one site. In any case, you will not be left uninformed.

Please subscribe to this particular site so that you know what is happening in this transition. Subscribing does not mean that I have any access to your personal contact information. You will simply be advised of any important changes before they happen, and it all happens seamlessly.

Please standby,

A new custom search engine is in the works

For the past week I have been working on the code for a new search engine for our site. It is coming along well but there are still some bugs to work out before we can go live.

This search engine will be a significant improvement over the generic one that is presently online. It will provide you with exact links to the files you are looking for. You will also be able to search by instrument or just by a keyword.

I would say that this kind of project is not for the feint of heart. The number of times I have been left scratching my head and wondering 'Why the heck didn't that work?' But I am sure it will be all worthwhile in the end.

Having a decent search engine is something I consider a necessity for a site like this, so you can be sure that I will not give up until it is perfect.... well, until it is the best I can make it and much better than what we have had up 'till now.

Growing a site like this is a very good challenge. However, one can only attack one issue at a time. If you have any suggestions, please email me from the 'Contact' form on the drop-down menu. Your comments and feedback are always welcome.

All the best,

Broken Links

This introduces a new feature...

On the download pages is a facility to report broken links (or 'File Not Found' errors). It will take you to the email contact page.

With well over 10,000 files now online, all links being hand coded, there are bound to be some errors. If you would take a minute to let me know about these errors I will be able to fix them very easily.

You help will be much appreciated.

Hope you are enjoying the site and find it very useful.

Please help in building the Music Library

I am looking for your help with the Music Library.

Do you have some scores that you have downloaded from another site? If we don't have it here yet, could you upload it?

I have made things ultra-easy so that anyone can contribute in a matter of a minute or two. Check out the explanation of how it works on the uploads page (second item on the "Navigation" menu) . . .
or, you can go HERE

Your contributions will make this site even better! Thanks for your continued support.
